Application Received
Your application has been received at the Case Processing Centre in Sydney, Nova Scotia. Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada will review your application, the documents and the citizenship fees you sent to ensure they meet the minimum processing requirements.

Application in Process
If you live in Canada, the Case Processing Centre will forward your application to the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) office closest to your home for processing.

If you live outside Canada, your file will be processed at the Case Processing Centre.

The IRCC office or the Case Processing Centre will complete the necessary steps for a citizenship judge to make a decision on your application. If additional information or documents are needed and you live in Canada, IRCC will contact you. If you live outside Canada, the Canadian embassy, high commission or consulate responsible for the area where you live will contact you.

An interview with a citizenship judge may be required. Should this be necessary, you will be notified by mail about the time and place of your interview. If you live outside Canada, the Canadian embassy, high commission or consulate responsible for your area will contact you to let you know how the interview will be conducted.

If you wish to withdraw your application, you must advise us before a decision on your application has been made.

Applicant Notified
You will be notified by mail about the decision on your citizenship application.

If you meet the requirements and live in Canada, you will be invited to a citizenship ceremony where you will take the oath of citizenship and receive a certificate of Canadian citizenship.

If you meet the requirements and live outside Canada, the Canadian embassy, high commission or consulate responsible for your area will schedule your appointment to take the oath of citizenship and receive a certificate of Canadian citizenship.

If you do not meet the requirements, you will be informed in writing.
