Application Received
Your application has been received at the Case Processing Centre in Sydney, Nova Scotia. Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada will review your application and the documents you sent to ensure they meet the minimum processing requirements.

Application in Process
Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada officials will complete the review of your application. If additional information or documents are needed and you live in Canada, you will be contacted. If you live outside Canada, the Canadian Immigration Office responsible for the area where you live will contact you.

An interview with Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada officials may be required. Should this be necessary, you will be notified about the time and place of your interview. If you live outside Canada, the Canadian Immigration Office responsible for your area will contact you to let you know how the interview will be conducted.

If you wish to withdraw your application, you must advise us before a decision on your application has been made.

Applicant Notified
You will be notified by mail about the decision on your citizenship application.

If you meet the requirements to renounce Canadian citizenship, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada will contact you for the return of your citizenship certificate, if applicable. Then, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada will send your renunciation document to your Canadian mailing address or the Canadian embassy, consulate or high commission responsible for the area where you live.

If you do not meet the requirements, you will be informed in writing.
